Introducing Me: Eugenie
Hello everyone! My name is Eugenie, and I’m one of the Volunteer Directors at Hearts to Heroes this year! As a Volunteer Director, I’m in charge of organizing and leading all of our volunteer events, sending out emails and reminders, and being able to communicate with each and every one of our amazing volunteers, which is the absolute highlight of my job!
I started my Hearts to Heroes journey last year as a volunteer in the middle of the pandemic, helping to create care packages and write letters of gratitude to our community heroes. One of my favorite things about volunteering with Hearts to Heroes even to this day is how our contributions go directly towards supporting the people who sacrifice so much for us and keep our world running. But beyond that, Hearts to Heroes has shown me a side of the world and myself that I never noticed before.
I truly believe that life is a reflection of perspective. There’s a limitless amount of opportunities in this world, and it’s up to us to decide which ones to take and what we do with them. One of the things that I’ve recognized over the past few months is that no matter how scary it seems, the more you open yourself up to the world around you, the greater your ability to love deeply and find meaning in the things you do. And yes, while that sometimes comes with failure, it also opens you up to living your life to the fullest.
More than anything, life is about the meaningful relationships you develop over time, the little things that brighten up your day, and the people who love and support you. When you open up and share a little piece of yourself with someone else, I think you’ll realize that’s when you develop the deepest relationships. And I experience that every day when I get to work with this amazing group of people who share my love for making an impact in our community. I think we truly bring out the best in each other, and we have such a deep bond that runs beyond our shared positions in Hearts to Heroes. So I guess what I’m trying to say is this: go out and find something that makes you smile a little brighter each day and fills your life with purpose, because the world is waiting.
