Introducing Me: Delaney
Hey guys! My name is Delaney and I’m the Volunteer Director and one of the Co-Founders of Hearts to Heroes! I’m the one sending out all the emails to our volunteers, organizing pick-up and drop-off days, and packing the care packages and cards you guys help us make so that they’re ready to go straight to our heroes! I absolutely LOVE my position because I get to meet all of you guys and get to see firsthand the difference we’re all making in the community together! I really hope we’ll get to do more group and in-person volunteer projects soon, but for now, I love seeing all of your guys’ faces when you come by to pick-up or drop-off materials every week!
Here’s a little about me! I love playing volleyball, watching movies, going to the beach, and taking photos of my friends. I don’t love tomatoes, rude people, or driving (mostly just parking and unprotected left turns and when I get lost which is a lot just ask Armita). I also have a dog and a fish that I love very much and I might be getting pet ducks soon. I’ll keep you guys updated on that. And I also really, really, REALLY love Hearts to Heroes.
I honestly don’t even know how or where to begin talking about what Hearts to Heroes means to me. Getting this organization off the ground in the middle of a pandemic has definitely been tough, but I couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences Hearts to Heroes has given me and for the amazing, incredible, life-changing people it has brought into my life. From our unbelievable board members that have helped grow Hearts to Heroes into the organization that it is today (and make me laugh until my stomach hurts every week), to the incredible essential workers I get the chance of meeting and hearing the stories of, to our amazing volunteers that help keep this organization running, I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am.
If you couldn’t tell, something that’s really important to me is expressing gratitude. I found that writing down three things I’m grateful for first thing in the morning has made me realize how lucky I am to be living the life I’m living, surrounded by the people I’m surrounded by, doing the things I get to do every day! It keeps me going and keeps me inspired. Expressing gratitude for the everyday people that keep our community running was the whole reason we started Hearts to Heroes in the first place, so I guess my question to you is, what, or who, are you grateful for?
