Introducing Me: Karen
Hi! My name is Karen, and I’m the Financial Director at Hearts to Heroes this year! As a Financial Director, I am in charge of keeping track of Heart to Heroes’ expenses and deposits, as well as researching and preparing the small goodies that go into the care packages.
My Hearts to Heroes journey started during my freshman year when I was finding opportunities to earn volunteer hours and I came across the Hearts to Heroes club at my school. After joining the meetings a few times, I fell in love with what Hearts to Heroes does and became more involved in my sophomore year. I decided to apply for the executive board to become more committed and it was the best decision I could’ve ever made!
Outside of Hearts to Heroes, I love to sing and dance and my favorite artists include Twice, IVE, Ariana Grande, New Jeans, and Crimzon (a Taiwanese pop group). I’ve also practiced kung fu as a sport for almost 10 years and I am currently a green sash. My favorite food/drink is boba!! If you need any recommendations, I gotchu :) My favorite movie and TV series is Detective Conan and my favorite character would probably be Kaitou Kid. His wits and tricks are just amazing! In my free time, I like to make paper clay projects and my favorite artwork, currently, is a scenery of sunflowers in the wind with ladybugs on the petals and words cannot describe how beautiful it is!
My go-to vacation place is Taiwan!! I love going there every summer to experience the culture and city life. My most memorable memory is when I get to see my cousins and friends in Taiwan and we get to explore fun shopping malls and eat very delicious food. The little souvenirs are so aesthetic that make them irresistible to buy, especially with the low prices! Every night, I would also snap a pic of the Taipei 101 as it lights up one of the rainbow colors corresponding to the day of the week and it is way too iconic to miss!
Receiving sincere and heartfelt compliments has really brightened my day many times and noticing the difference it has had on me, my attitude and personality have revolved around being optimistic and I’m always cheering for others to do their best! I am always happy to help! :)
